Ron Grosinger | Sun Jul 22 17:09:00 2012 The Rail-Trails are my savior. I did 30 miles from Englewood to Nyack mostly on a Rail-Trail. Love it.... and no cars to HONK at me. |
Jason Patrick Cross | Sun Jul 22 15:41:00 2012 i hear you on the honks. i have no issue with a courtesy honk, but don't do it when you're at my rear wheel. i had someone come by in a Jeep Cherokee last week, hanging out sitting on the window sill of the passenger door scream at me while hugging the shoulder line.... i almost had a heart attack. couldn't even let go of the bars to flip him off! lots of stupid people out there! |
Ron Grosinger | Thu Jul 19 20:34:00 2012 ROAD RAGE!!!!! (or my case.. Bike Rage) Oh man. I lost my cool today with a car that honked at me. I thought my heart was going to beat out of my chest. I was ready to fight this random guy. Luckaly he had better judgment and drove off. After I calmed down I realized that it is not worth fighting a guy over a traffic honk. Easy goes it. I really wish that New Jersey would catch up with New York and put more bike lanes in. |
Andrew Besold | Tue Jul 17 08:26:00 2012 I've had the need for simple transportation lately. The end result is that I've riden my 1970's vitage Ross Eurotour 3-speed about 70 miles in the past several days including 30 miles last Friday. I'm always amazed how easy it is to ride that bike long distances. |
Ron Grosinger | Mon Jul 16 00:30:00 2012 Wow, that was a big ride for me. I traveled up the large Palisades Ave hill to Fort Lee. Then across the GWB, to get north to the Bronx. I walked the bridge in to the Bronx.. hit Van Cortland park and road the rail trail for miles................ till Hartsdale, NY |
Ron Grosinger | Thu Jul 12 22:32:00 2012 I plan to ride 35miles from Englewood to White Plains, NY Friday. |
Ron Grosinger | Thu Jul 12 21:15:00 2012 Rock and Roll!!!! I love biking. |
George Sauvain | Thu Jul 12 18:05:00 2012 I went for a preview ride of the Tour de Long Valley 40 today. It’s really beautiful ride. I’ll be bib # 477. |
Marty Garnick | Tue Jul 10 14:28:00 2012 41 miles on this beautiful Tuesday. Nice to get out of the heat. |
Marty Garnick | Sat Jul 7 15:46:00 2012 51 miles in the blazing heat today. Easy does it and lots of water. |
Marty Garnick | Tue Jul 3 12:59:00 2012 I agree with you Andrew. Jersey has some of the best cycling! |
Andrew Besold | Mon Jul 2 17:35:00 2012 Woops! Small mistake! The Tour of Long Valley is on Sunday the 29th of July! |
Marty Garnick | Mon Jul 2 14:38:00 2012 It's been an exceptional 2 months for me. Maybe this month Thomas. |
Andrew Besold | Mon Jul 2 11:05:00 2012 Oh yeah! I passed a few skinny guys on plastic bikes on a killer climb and they where riding compact. ;) Ride the David D Hammar Foundation Tour of Long Valley on the 26th this month if you want to see what I mean about this eing one of the best places anywhere for cycling. |
Andrew Besold | Mon Jul 2 11:01:00 2012 Rode 36 very hilly but unbelievably beautiful miles in Long Valley yesterday. This ended up being one of the best rides I've ever done anywhere! That includes many rides in Europe. Very few cars, beautiful scenery, and very entertaining teeny tiny roads. New Jersey cycling is truely world class! |
Tom Lutz | Mon Jul 2 08:54:00 2012 Hey Marty -- was hoping you would take the last couple days of June off so I could finish ahead of you for the month. Thanks for helping me push myself! :-) |
Marty Garnick | Fri Jun 29 21:37:00 2012 54 miles today. HOT! HOT! HOT! |
Beth A Perkins | Thu Jun 28 19:31:00 2012 Had a great ride this morning, very few people out on the towpath. Rode 23 miles and averaged my best MPH - 11.5 during the ride. I should have 100 miles in by the end of the month. My goal is to get my endurance up and the ability to ride at a pace of at least 12 mph during the ride. If I can do this, I will be able to ride with some of the group rides of the club I joined. Don't feel like I can quite do it yet. Would like to make it to 500 points by the end of July. I am amazed I am already into the silver category. Tour de France starts Saturday. Anyone going to watch? |
Tom Lutz | Thu Jun 28 10:38:00 2012 I never thought I'd be riding this much on my Brompton. It feels great! I'm definitely partial to AM rides. Much cooler, less traffic, and I have more energy. |
Jason Patrick Cross | Thu Jun 28 06:46:00 2012 Inexpenise Charity ride for a good cause. Beachwood Bikes in Beachwood NJ is hosting a Charity Ride for "Wounded Warriors" Details Below. |
Marty Garnick | Mon Jun 25 14:31:00 2012 I just got back from GOBA. 7 days, 330 miles in Ohio. 2 days rain. 5 days mid 90's. Awesome trip. For story and pics see my blog. http://marty-thejerseypedaler.blogspot.com/ |
George Sauvain | Sun Jun 24 14:14:00 2012 Wow! What is up with all the finger pointing? I just came on here to support New Jersey in the National Bike Challenge. No wonder we’re in 40th place! This should be fun – not snarky!! |
John Piper | Sun Jun 24 07:44:00 2012 I can see my data just fine which is all that matters. Im not here to boast about what I do and to be honest I dont really use this site except to help my team out in this challenge. I am a Garmin Connect man !!! |
Beth A Perkins | Sat Jun 23 17:27:00 2012 Man O Man, what a great day for a ride. In the 80's but breezy, sunny and absolutely gorgeous!!!!! Got on my bike at 10:30AM and rode about 29 miles. Probably could have gone further but had to stop and fix a flat. Hate when that happens. Ah, well, nothing could spoil this day. Canal on one side of me and the river on the other, riding in the coolness of the shade most of the time. What a fabulous day!!!! Hope others had a great one as well. |
John Piper | Sat Jun 23 16:42:00 2012 HaHa Cross! But we dont have the respect of some ignorant folks on here so I dont think they would show! |
Jason Patrick Cross | Sat Jun 23 13:20:00 2012 Anyone who wishes to call BS on Johns miles, you are more than welcome to join us for a group ride. We ride just about every night after work, and we hit just about every local bike shop group ride as well. We have every skill level from beginner to semi pro available with loops from 5 miles to 50 miles. the campaign is about riding, not drama, so get out there and ride! |
John Piper | Sat Jun 23 11:15:00 2012 Sorry Linda but I use GARMIN..NOT endomondo from a phone and dont live on here...so when I have time to upload all of my rides..I do.....and for your information all you have to do is go to my page and click on workouts / month and hover over each day to get my miles, time etc etc... funny how I get the finger pointed at me when everyone else has their rides hidden.lol I suggest you get the facts straight before you post nonsense in a public venue! |
John Piper | Fri Jun 22 13:22:00 2012 Firm Grasp? I think not |
Andrew Besold | Tue Jun 19 12:36:00 2012 Really cool how the women are well repreented in the NJ Top 20 with Barbera Bennett having a firm grasp on 1st place. On the national level its a "boys club". You go ladies! First place and 7 out of 20 is really great. |
Marty Garnick | Fri Jun 15 16:53:00 2012 Just broke 2500 miles for the yr. Very happy. Even better I am leaving for GOBA, a 7 day cycling adventure. in Ohio. |
George Sauvain | Fri Jun 15 15:53:00 2012 I rode up to the highest point in New Jersey today – High Point Monument – 1800 feet. |
Marty Garnick | Sat Jun 9 14:59:00 2012 Don't you just hate that! Glad your OK. |
Andrew Besold | Wed Jun 6 22:45:00 2012 I had the most scary moment EVER on a bicycle today. I was riding west on Cranbury Neck Road about two miles out of the Village of Cranbury. Traffic was light at around 3:30pm and I was hauling at around 23mph with my hands in the drops and my head down at times. I looked up only to see a car coming straight at me!!!! The driver was passing a car and didn't even see me! I was litterally run off the road at 23mph! I kept it upright and the bike was fine but I had the scare of my life. The bastard didn't even once try to slow down. Full throttle the whole time!!!! |
Marty Garnick | Thu May 31 17:34:00 2012 This has been an outstanding month for me. 21 days and almost 600 miles! |
Brendan poh | Tue May 29 08:04:00 2012 The rain has not been helping! |
Marty Garnick | Mon May 28 16:41:00 2012 Rode 27 fun miles, then another 6 with my wife to watch the Manalapan/Englishtown Memorial Day Parade. A dip in the pool followed. Awesome day! |
Michael Steiner | Sat May 26 10:17:00 2012 Got out on my bike to watch the Tour of Sommerville, Saturday Classic fly by near my house. Came home and watched the Giro stage 20 live on the interenet. It's the start of a great weekend! |
Andrew Besold | Mon May 21 00:28:00 2012 The Tour de Monclair was awsome today! What was even more awsome was how easy it was to ride to and from Montclair from Newark Penn Station. North Arlington, Kearny and Harrison were easy fun to ride through!! Newark does need a little help even if its easy peasy 8am on Sunday morning due to a lake of traffic. |
Jason Patrick Cross | Tue May 15 12:52:00 2012 Looks like the rain has dropped NJ to 41st. |
John Piper | Mon May 14 20:22:00 2012 Mark I got 22 Bonus points for being Awesome! |
Jason Patrick Cross | Mon May 14 08:03:00 2012 Come on NJ.... We are 40th in the challenge. Lets log some Miles! |
Andrew Besold | Mon May 14 04:55:00 2012 Go Linda Go! 500+ Points! You go! |
Mark Rogers | Sun May 13 21:58:00 2012 Piper...i received 10 Bonus Pts today for making friends on the bikepath. |
John Piper | Sat May 12 12:36:00 2012 Just an FYI for everyone who thinks they get 20 Bonus Points for every ride they do. NO YOU DONT! You receive 20 bonus points PER DAY not ride.. so MAN UP and ride your total distance in 1 ride instead of freakin 10........ 2 mile rides..... Its actually pretty funny but what can you do! |
Andrew Besold | Fri May 4 02:03:00 2012 I hear ya Linda! Not good. But look at you at Number 2. You go girl! |
J Lynn Johnson | Thu May 3 09:36:00 2012 I've never biked to work yet, but I'm determined to do it! Looking forward to the challenge. |
Andrew Besold | Thu Apr 26 01:59:00 2012 Damn you Gerald! Your 2 points ahead of me! I thought my 55 miles today would have pushed me past you. I'll get you tomorrow! |
Gerald Fittipaldi | Mon Apr 23 00:50:00 2012 Help promote the National Bike Challenge by printing out these fliers: http://nationalbikechallenge.org/ao/graphics.html Let's put New Jersey on the map! |
Andrew Besold | Thu Apr 19 22:57:00 2012 Hey.! The Jersey boys are here.! I biked 102.5 miles today training for the Longest Day Ride in June. It's 11pm and I'm still awake. I'm always amazed at how low the traffic is between 10am and 2pm on a weekday. Also traffic out in Hunterdon County is nothing like it is on a weekend day when everyone is out driving for fun. My ride out to Lambertville and back was absolutely sublime and relatively quite. VERY little drama with clueless drivers. |
Michael Dannemiller | Thu Apr 19 11:56:00 2012 I'm wondering if I can convince my whole extended family to join. Maybe kick things off by biking to a wedding this weekend... |
John Smolenyak | Wed Apr 18 15:25:00 2012 I love bicycling in NJ but I don`t mind exploring in other states. |
Barry G Wolff | Mon Apr 16 16:13:00 2012 Gonna get in shape and loose weight |
Raymond Worrall | Sat Mar 3 15:34:00 2012 We're in first place!!! |
Raymond Worrall | Sat Mar 3 15:32:00 2012 You're all a bunch of pussies... |
